mean mother of the year award

When we were kids and angry with whatever rule mom had just enforced, we would inevitably say something to the extent of, you're so mean.
To which mom would always reply, good, maybe I'll get the mean mother award this year.

One year, using my older brother's new wood burning kit, we made her a mean mother award. It had a drawing of an award ribbon on it, her name and the date, and we made it formally say that she had been awarded the mean mother of the year award. Something like Firstname "Mom" Lastname has hereby been awarded the Mean Mother of the Year Award on this date.
She loved it.
In fact-
That plaque is the first thing she hangs up any time she moves.
