A Captain with 6yrs and dependents would receive $3117 a month in housing allowance for a New York, NY assignment (there are a few places- even an Army location here on Manhattan). That same Captain would get $1566 in Montgomery, AL. I'll wait while you do some math.
All I'm saying is, if the Government recognizes that living in NYC is expensive, I shouldn't find myself defending how much we pay for rent. Not that it's any one's business.
